Employee Reimbursement Account (ERA) Grace Period for Medical and Dependent Care Expense Claims
February 18, 2011

Services received and reimbursable items purchased in 2010 and during the grace period between January 1 and March 15, 2011, may be reimbursed from remaining 2010 ERA plan year funds.

Please note that effective January 1, 2011, due to the Affordable Care Act, over-the-counter medicines or drugs are eligible for reimbursement only if they are purchased with a prescription. This new rule does not apply to reimbursements for the cost of insulin, which will continue to be permitted, even if purchased without a prescription. This change does not affect over-the-counter medicines and drugs purchased in 2010, even if they are reimbursed after December, 31, 2010.

The deadline for submitting 2010 claims to FBMC is April 15, 2011. All claims must be received by the Fringe Benefit Management Company or postmarked by April 15, 2011 to be reimbursed from 2010 funds. If you do not submit your claims by the deadline, any money remaining in your account for 2010 will be forfeited.

You can submit claims by any of the following methods:
